David Ishii passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012, but not before doing a last great act of kindness towards an institution that he had no ties to, beyond a shared love of fly fishing.

In the Fall, as his health failed, he made arrangements to donate his collection of 400 plus fly fishing related books to Western LIbraries Special Collections Fly Fishing Collection, which he knew of thanks to fellow Washington Fly Fishing Club member Steve Raymond.

Mr. Ishii seems to have been a passionate man, a great lover of books, a big supporter of the arts, devoted to baseball and dogs, with a rich knowledge of Seattle history.
