The Learning Commons brings together resources and programs to advance teaching and learning, online and across the physical space of Western Libraries. Learning Commons partners include: Circulation Services, Research & Instruction, Student Technology Center, the Teaching-Learning Academy, the Tutoring Center, the Writing Center, Writing Instruction Support, and Viking Village. Each of these services focuses on a specific academic area to help all students and faculty succeed.
The Library proudly announces that, with the help of a donation from David and Ann Mann, the Learning Commons will get a new look beginning with spring intersession.
The current Wilson Circulation desk will be removed to make way for a Learning Commons space. This modified space will be signed as the Learning Commons and will serve multiple, complementary purposes: to welcome patrons into the Library and Learning Commons, to inform patrons of Library & Learning Commons programs as well as to refer them to appropriate resources, and to provide a workspace for collaborating and exchanging ideas. The new Learning Commons space will feature a single information desk, a designated consultation space for Research Librarians on call, as well as a flexible floor plan and movable furniture for reconfiguring with various sized groups. While the new furniture will likely not be in place before spring quarter begins, the space will be changed and on its way to a new look and use.
Please celebrate with us and visit our new space spring quarter! Until then, stop by and take a look at our display case that highlights each partner and their resources!
