Film number three in the Masters of Japanese Cinema series brought to you by our very own Librarian, Jeff Purdue!
One of the most famous of all Japanese films, Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai still thrills, and is presented on the big screen--for the first time--in High Definition digital. The basis for The Magnificent Seven as well as countless action films, Seven Samurai is also a powerful character study; Toshiro Mifune, in a partly improvised role, and Takashi Shimura are especially riveting. Reportedly being remade in Hollywood for a 2011 release, here's a chance to see the original on the big screen.
