Differences in Communication:
Situations & Styles
An Educational Forum on Communication --
A Combination of Information and Dialogue
with Carmen Werder (Communication Affiliated faculty) and Rebecca Marrall, Diversity Resident Librarian, Western Libraries.
Haggard Hall 232
Tuesday, March 8th, 2011
4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Werder will address differences in communication situations focusing on distinctions between dialogue, discussion, and debate. Marrall will explore differences in individual communication styles. Participants will have an opportunity to apply some of the ideas presented and engage in dialogue around them. Refreshments served because there’s nothing like treats to enhance both our communication situations and styles.
Co-sponsored by AS Productions for Civil Controversy and Western Libraries and the Bellingham Senior Activities Center.
"The Civil Controversy Speaker Series is a campus-wide lecture series with a focus on sparking civil discourse on traditionally controversial social topics. Lectures often provide opportunities for a diversified dialogue to occur over a wide range of highly politicized or particularly pressing social issues."
