Reading Across Disciplines

Mon hours: 7:30 am - Midnight

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011
Haggard Hall 232
, 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Carmen Werder (Teaching-Learning Academy & Writing Instruction Support, Communication Affiliated Faculty) and Rebecca Marrall (Diversity Resident Librarian) will host a panel of Western Washington University faculty, focusing on disciplinary conventions in writing and communication.

Join in a Panel Discussion & Interactive Dialogue with guest panelists Dawn Dietrich (English), Todd Haskell (Psychology), and Anu Singh-Cundy (Biology) as they discuss disciplinary conventions in writing and communication & demonstrate how they read academic texts in their disciplines.

Participants will have an opportunity to apply some of the ideas presented and engage in dialogue around them.

Both faculty and students are welcome.
Faculty: Come and see how three professors read in their disciplines and consider how you might do a similar demonstration.

Students: Confused by the multitude of style conventions in the academic texts you’re assigned?  Come and learn how to read more deeply across your classes.

Refreshments will be provided, too!
