Finding Maps in CPNWS Collections

CPNWS’s former map catalog (containing searchable item-level description of select maps) is now offline. Staff are working actively to prepare this content for transfer to the MABEL platform. In the meantime, a copy of the description for maps from the following collections is available to researchers on request:

  • Bellingham Bay Improvement Company Records
  • Biery (Galen) Papers and Photographs
  • Buswell (Howard E.) Papers and Photographs
  • Cuthill (John McFarlane) Papers
  • Downie (William) Maps
  • Jeffcott (P.R.) Papers and Photographs
  • Larrabee Family Papers
  • Lyle (Roland C.) Map Collection
  • Minckler (Mark) Map Collection
  • Miscellaneous Map Collection
  • Pacific American Fisheries Records
  • Railroad Commission Map Collection
  • Washington State Harbor Line Commission Maps

MABEL, Western’s digital collections database, currently includes digitized content and description for the following CPNWS collection:

Aerial “maps” or photographs housed at CPNWS are described in this collection guide.

Note that not all cartographic materials are digitized or described individually. Try searching our main collection guides for names of locations, organizations or topics, and then browse the description to see if the collection(s) includes maps. Examples include (but are not limited to) maps the Alaska Packers Association Records, the Mt. Baker Hiking Club Records, and other archival collections that contain maps.
