The next film of the Cinema East film series at Pickford Film Center (1318 Bay Street) is Ann Hui’s feature July Rhapsody, which screens on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 7:45 p.m., with a matinee screening at 11:00 a.m.  More information and tickets can be found online.  

According to the Pickford’s website,  July Rhapsody is “a profound and soothing tale about how one paddles through life’s chaos as many seemingly eternal inspiration sources of times, like the Yangtze River, quietly fade away.”  

The Cinema East film series is co-presented by Western Libraries and Pickford Film Center, with film selections curated by WWU librarian Jeff Purdue. July Rhapsody is co-sponsored by CASCADIA International Women’s Film Festival. Their festival runs from April 24 to April 27. and Cheryl Crooks, Executive Director of CASCADIA, will be present during the evening screening to say a few words about the festival.
