"Clowns of Academia"

Now on display in Wilson Library through Spring Quarter!

This series of drawings began in 2006 and continues as the inspiration arises. The majority were completed during 50 minute faculty meetings with the themes generally emerging from discussions or group dynamics.

For better or for worse, our meeting histories have varied dynamics and I have tried to put a funny face on, what seems to be, a growing number of them.

As this collection heads to potential publication my intent is to use viewer reactions and shared experience to title the drawings. The drawings are numbered from reference and sketchbooks and pencils are provided to record your responses. With your help, we might be able to laugh at some of the pressures of the day.

Thank you, and enjoy,
Roger Germain

Also, make sure you take a few minutes to explore the boxes that are placed near the clown drawings.  These pieces were class projects intended to provoke thought and discussion concerning various aspects of student faculty interaction, dynamics, assessment, etc.
