With the darker days of winter here in the Pacific Northwest, you might be craving some extra light! Happy lights, also known as light therapy lamps, are a great way to reduce the symptoms of seasonal affective disorder (aka “SAD”), a type of depression that happens during the fall and winter months when there is less sunlight.

Did you know you can check out a portable happy light from Western Libraries? Thanks to a partnership with the Counseling and Wellness Center, you can borrow a portable happy light for up to one week. Just stop by the Circulation Services desk in Haggard 2 to check one out—it comes with quick tips on how to use it. Have questions about light therapy or seasonal affective disorder?
