Need a Boost? Borrow a Portable Happy Light!

A smiling cartoon brain holding a book and sitting near a portable happy light surrounded by books.

With the darker days of winter here in the Pacific Northwest, you might be craving some extra light! Happy lights, also known as light therapy lamps, are a great way to reduce the symptoms of seasonal affective disorder (aka “SAD”), a type of depression that happens during the fall and winter months when there is less sunlight.

Did you know you can check out a portable happy light from Western Libraries? Thanks to a partnership with the Counseling and Wellness Center, you can borrow a portable happy light for up to one week. Just stop by the Circulation Services desk in Haggard 2 to check one out—it comes with quick tips on how to use it. Have questions about light therapy or seasonal affective disorder? Call the Counseling and Wellness Center at 360-650-3164 or email cwc@wwu.edu.
