This site provides a gateway into current research in the history of music theory and literature underway at Indiana University. It indexes and provides access to numerous transcriptions of numerous treatises and codex. This site also links directly to Doctoral Dissertations in Musicology (DDM).
Saggi Musicali Italiani
SMI is a database providing access to digitized renderings of texts relating to music theory and aesthetics. The primary focus of SMI project is major treatises written in Italian with the goal of including all printed treatises from the Renaissance to the present. All treatises in the database may be downloaded and are fully searchable.
